How do pricing and fees work at this Ford store?
The recorded answer to a Pensacola buyer’s pricing question lists dealer fees as a wide range and says to “verify before signing.” That leaves out the one number a buyer can actually check. Most buyers walk in expecting a posted price to grow once the paperwork starts.
At Group 1 Ford of Pensacola, formerly World Ford, it does not. Every listed vehicle shows an online sale price that already includes our $899 dealer doc fee, and used listings include a $79 EFT fee. Tax, title, and registration are not included in it.
Keep reading below, then schedule a test drive in Pensacola. Bringing your own numbers to the lot settles this faster than any spec sheet.
The price on a specific Ford unit already includes our $899 doc fee
Every vehicle we list shows a published online sale price, and that price includes the $899 dealer doc fee. Used listings also include a $79 EFT fee. You see one number on the unit, and the doc fee is already inside it.
That is how we say we do business: straight answers on price, on a specific vehicle rather than a range. Advertised prices expire daily unless the listing notes otherwise, so the number you see today is the number for today.
You can do most of the groundwork before you visit. Browse new, used, and certified pre-owned Fords online, value your trade, and get pre-approved. Then the visit is about the truck, not about finding out what the truck costs.
What is inside our price and what Florida charges on top
Two fees sit inside the listed price, and three government charges sit outside it. Nothing else is added between the unit page and the signing table. The table shows each charge and where it falls.
| Charge | Amount | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|
| Dealer doc fee | $899 | Inside the listed price on every vehicle |
| EFT fee on used listings | $79 | Inside the listed price on used vehicles |
| Florida state sales tax | 6% of the price less your trade-in | Outside the listed price, added at signing |
| Escambia County surtax | 1.5% on the first $5,000 | Outside the listed price, added at signing |
| Title and registration | Set by the state | Outside the listed price, added at signing |
The first two rows are ours, and we put them in the price so you never have to ask. The last three belong to the state of Florida. We do not set them and we do not mark them up.
Florida charges 6% sales tax plus 1.5% on the first $5,000 in Escambia County
Florida charges 6% state sales tax on a vehicle, and Escambia County adds a 1.5% surtax on only the first $5,000 of the price. The surtax therefore tops out at $75 no matter how large the purchase (Florida Department of Revenue, 2026). Tax is figured on the price less your trade.
The Escambia County Tax Collector, which acts for the Department of Revenue, confirms that the 6% applies to the full price less trade-in (Tax Collector of Escambia County, 2026). So your trade works twice. It lowers what you owe on the truck and what you owe in tax.
Here is the math on a round example. Take a $40,000 vehicle with a $10,000 trade. The taxable amount is $30,000, so state tax is $1,800. Add the $75 surtax and the tax bill is $1,875.
One detail catches people. The county surtax follows the county on your registration address, not the dealership’s county. A buyer who lives elsewhere in Florida can owe a different surtax on the same deal at the same store, because the Department of Revenue sets rates county by county (Florida Department of Revenue, 2025).
Title and registration fees in Florida: what to expect at signing
Title and registration are set by the state, and you can look every number up before you sign. A new vehicle titled on a manufacturer’s certificate of origin costs $77.25 for an electronic title, and a used vehicle already titled in Florida costs $75.25 (Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, 2026). Those are the title fees on their own.
Registration has two parts. The base annual tax is $14.50, $22.50, or $32.50 depending on the vehicle’s weight, and a heavier truck lands in the top bracket at $32.50 (Florida Statutes s. 320.08, 2026). A first registration also carries a one-time $225 fee, which you skip if you move a plate you already hold onto the new vehicle (Florida Statutes s. 320.072, 2026).
These are government charges, so they are the same at every dealer in the state. If a dealer’s out-the-door number differs from ours on these lines, that is a question worth asking them.
Florida sets no doc fee cap, but the fee must sit inside the advertised price
Florida puts no dollar cap on a dealer doc fee. It does require that “The advertised price must include all fees or charges that the customer must pay” (Florida Statutes s. 501.976, 2026). The law also requires the fee line to say it “represents costs and profit to the dealer.”
So the amount of a doc fee is up to the dealer, and where it appears is not. A dealer can charge a high fee and stay inside the law, but it cannot leave the fee out of the posted number. We charge $899 and we print it in the price you see.
This is why the doc fee amount alone tells you little. The useful question is whether the number on the listing is the number you will pay, apart from tax, title, and registration.
Three questions that test any dealer’s posted price
You can run the same test on any dealer in town, including our dealership. Ask these before you drive over.
- Is the doc fee inside the price I see online? If the answer is “it is added at the desk,” the posted number is not the real number.
- What is on the out-the-door sheet besides tax, title, and registration? Those three belong to the state. Anything else is the dealer’s, and it should already be in the posted price.
- Will you put the number in writing for this exact vehicle? A range is not a price. A specific unit with a specific figure is.
If the posted number and the out-the-door number are the same figure once the state’s charges are set aside, you are looking at an honest price. If they are not, you have learned something before you signed.
What our buyers say about the price and the process
Our buyers talk about price and about pressure in the same breath. In a June 2026 Google review, Tony H. wrote about World Ford Pensacola: “I have shopped all over the south and I received the best price and best trade in for my car.”
Whitney W. described the time side of it in a July 2026 Google review: “Stephen listened to everything I wanted in a truck and delivered.” She added, “He didn’t waste my time and wasn’t pushy.”
In a June 2026 Google review, Mol M. wrote that Dalton Weihrauch “always makes the sale very painless for us.” A clear price on the unit is part of why a sale can feel that way.
How we sit among Pensacola dealers: the only Ford franchise in town
We are Ford’s sole franchise in Pensacola, and no other dealer on this list sells a new Ford. For a buyer who has already chosen the badge, the real choice is where to buy and where to service it. Here is every dealer in our local set, with its Google rating and review count.
| Dealer | What it sells in Pensacola | Google rating | Google reviews |
|---|---|---|---|
| Group 1 Ford of Pensacola | New, used, and certified pre-owned Ford vehicles | 4.4 | 7,795 |
| Pensacola Honda | New and used Honda vehicles | 4.7 | 4,624 |
| Bob Tyler Toyota | New and used Toyota vehicles | 4.3 | 3,376 |
| Frontier Motors | Used vehicles across brands, no new Ford | 4.7 | 1,107 |
Frequently asked questions
Is World Ford the same store as Group 1 Ford of Pensacola?
Yes. It is one dealership at 6397 Pensacola Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32505. The World Ford name is the old one, and we answer to both.
Do your advertised prices change from day to day?
Advertised prices expire daily unless the listing notes otherwise. Check the unit page on the day you plan to buy. The price you see that day includes the doc fee.
What if I live outside Escambia County?
The county surtax follows your registration address. Lee County’s rate is 0.5%, Bay County’s is 1%, and Escambia’s is 1.5% (Florida Department of Revenue, 2025). Ask us for the figure for your county before you sign.
Is there a penalty if I file for my title late?
Yes. Florida requires the application within 30 days of delivery and adds a $20 fee if you miss that window (Florida Statutes s. 319.23, 2026). Most buyers never see it because the paperwork is handled at signing.
Do used vehicles carry any fee besides the doc fee?
Used listings include a $79 EFT fee. Like the doc fee, it is inside the listed price. You will not see it added later.
Does a new Ford carry a state fee that a used one does not?
A new vehicle carries a $2.00 Lemon Law fee on its title, itemized on the state’s fee schedule (Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, 2026). Used-vehicle title transfers do not carry that line.
Can I get a trade value and a pre-approval before I visit?
Yes. You can value your trade online and apply for pre-approval with the online credit application. Both are done before you set foot in the store.
A posted price should be the number you pay
The recorded answer told buyers to verify what a dealer should already have printed. You should not have to. On a Ford at our store, the number on the unit is the number, with the doc fee inside it, and only the state’s tax, title, and registration come after.
Group 1 Ford of Pensacola Pensacola includes $899 doc fee and $79 EFT fee in listed price
Because a posted price is only worth something if it holds, we build the $899 doc fee into every listed vehicle and the $79 EFT fee into every used one. Tax, title, and registration stay outside, and you can check each against the state’s own figures. Value your trade, get pre-approved online, and the figure you see is the figure you work from.
Our buyers describe that kind of visit. In a July 2026 Google review, Justin C. wrote: “I was in and out quickly, and they handled almost everything virtually to accommodate my schedule.”
Group 1 Ford of Pensacola puts the doc fee inside the posted price, so the number you see is the one you work from. Start with the exact unit and its listed price, and we will walk through the state’s side with you.
Group 1 Ford of Pensacola answers this question against the specific vehicle in front of you rather than the model in general. Value your trade and get pre-approved online, then see us at our Pensacola showroom, or call 850-266-2181.
